Addicted to playing a monk
I played a monk in the March Beta a bit, but I didn't find it all that fun. This Beta though, I tried it again and I had a blast. I mostly played The Crag, which I was addicted to. And I had this one amazing team with the coolest players. We had a 30 win streak. It was so much fun. I also did the Arena and Tombs with my monk and I found them just as fun. And I actually survived in the Tombs and kept my team alive.
Anyone else try a monk or a new profession and just become completely addicted to it? At first I wanted to play just a ranger, then a warrior, then elementalist, and now a monk. So many good choices.

I have yet to try the monk class, but it sure does look promising. Possibly a monk/mesmer combination.

I also started playing a Monk this weekend. And I to fell in love with the monk. It is amazing how much more fun playing a healer is in GW than in most other games I've played.
I also found that a team with a dedicated healer in the random arenas can go on a long run. I think the group i was with went on a 15+ run of wins with at one point 6 flawless in a row. It was great fun and a lot of action for me as the healer.

the best combo for monk i found was elementalist monk...you load up on enregy storage and get a couple of offensive fire spells..then stock up on healing and rez. Because of the huge amount of mana you can get with higher lvls of the storgae skill you can heal alot...and also have time to defend yourself. Elder otter.

Agreed. I played a Druid and a Cleric in EQ, and while it was fun at times, being the healer was pretty blah compared to the other classes. But in GW, it's just an adrenaline rush to be the healer, especially in Tombs. It really tests your skills. I can't decide if I want my monk to be PvE/PvP, or just PvP though. Choices...

I play a monk since WPE. Last beta i finaly tried other classes such as warrior and ranger. But i realised that when i was doing missions, I was watching the party window more than watching the fight. I was even feeling useless when i was seeing someone's HP dropping down.
My friend who is Necro/monk was with us in the mission.. and i was on the phone with him telling him "heal this guy, check out the HP of this one, heal yourself you gonna die, revive the elementalist while no one is taking damage..." and stuff like this.
I think i will stick to monk and play another class only when i solo.

I know how this goes. After our guild lost in the Tombs, we switched characters around. I changed from monk to elementalist, and the whole time I was like "Oh no, his life is going down. I should heal him... wait, that's not my job now."

Seriously, Necromancer is a brilliant profession. I bought this skill at after searing Ascalon for necromancer, I can't remember the name but you draw 190 odd Hp from nearby corpse. The healing and offensive on the necromancer is very well balanced, sometimes I even wander if a necromancer's healing surpasses a monk's healing abilities.
